Question re: weight loss (just diagnosed with PCOS)

I have just been tentatively diagnosed with PCOS. I still have to go back to the doctor to check some things before they are sure.

I have been trying SOOO hard to lose weight for the last 7 or 8 months (before I suspected I had any kind of health problem). I have had a really hard time. I ended up losing 15 pounds by exercising 2 or more hours a day and eating 1800-2000 calories/day. Lately I am terribly fatigued and I haven't been able to exercise that much, so I haven't lost any weight. I would like to lose 40-50 lbs.

Just out of curiosity - if the doctor prescribed, for example, the birth control pill to regulate my hormones, will I then lose weight like a normal person? Or will it always be this hard, no matter what? I'm not exactly sure what makes it so hard to lose weight, if it's the hormones, or the insulin stuff, or what! I am so frustrated watching other people lose weight so easily, when I try three times harder and never lose an ounce.

The doctor said my blood sugar and insulin levels are normal so that would make me think I don't have any problems (yet?) with that. I have tried to reduce carb intake for months though, and it hasn't helped me lose weight... I have only lost two pounds since November. :-(

Any advice is appreciated.
