Re: Any Ideas about effective treatment for PCOS?From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 15 Feb 2003 12:11:15 -0600 (CST)
I have very dark hair and light skin (also a Jewish background), and I had a laser-like treatment (Epilight) on my face. It definitely made a big difference, though I still have some growth. I had black, whisker-like hairs on my chin that were actually sharp to touch and showed through the skin even when they weren't yet through the surface. The treatment solved that problem. It works best for dark hair because it does a good job of absorbing the light. All the laser stuff can be very pricey, but it beats paying for waxing or electrolysis every week and still having to worry about people standing too close to you. If you can, you might look into having it done and paying in installments over a year or something. It's worth it. I have thin hairs on my cheeks now, but I can't do much about that because they're too thin and light for the Epilight to have much effect (plus, I'm out of money). I started Diane 35 about a month ago, so I'm hoping that helps. On a side note, I'm also worried about my weight. I actually just bought the Atkins book, and he says the diet may not work if you're on birth control. I guess the only way to find out is to try it. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.
