Good newsFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 17 Jan 2003 15:59:33 -0600 (CST)
Hi everyone! This is the first time I've ever posted a message here. I just wanted to tell you that PCOS is something you can find ways to deal with...so it does not dominate your life. I remember how depressed I was with some of the symptoms: hair growth, weird cycles, etc. You can get better!! I did! I have had great success pursuing a mostly vegetarian diet and regular exercise. I'm now taking birth control pills...but that's largely because I just got married...not for a medical reason. I really recommend Asian cuisines. Green tea can help with weight loss. Seaweed can be helpful, too. Also, the preparation of vegetables in these cuisines is much more interesting. If there are people suffering from hair growth...I really recommend electrolysis. It's worth the investment. Tweezing only activates the hair follicle...it brings blood to the area, so the follicle continues to sprout hairs. Electrolysis is totally safe (right now, I think it is safer than laser treatments.) and it works! Re. exercise. The type probably doesn't matter. I love yoga because I can do it on a freezing winter day. I recommend Rodney Yee's videotapes. They are inspiring and gentle. You will be able to do them even if you have been a couch potato for a long time. Exercise will chase your blues away as well. I wish you all health and happiness in 2003. I am impressed by this forum. There are a lot of people out there who care. My best to you, anonymous PS I do realize that some of you are taking medications. Don't stop because you read this message...but my suggestions are things you can try on your own. Never give up.
