YUP!!! I've heard of the Bernstein Diet....In fact I was on it...
I agree...there is very little food allowed. As for will power on this
diet?
You don't really need any...With your daily injection of Vitamin B12
that SUPPOSEDLY increases your metabolic rate, and the vitamins and
pills etc. You really don't have much to do with this entire system.
The man himself...a very diferent story. I remember my grandmother had
passed away, and having a house filled with people paying their
respects, all we did was drink coffee and some toast with jam. The
following monday, I was INTERVIEWD by Dr. Bernstein and as I explained
WHY I didn't eat, his words were (quote, unquote) "I don't care if your
F....grandmother is dead, if you don't smarten up, YOU'LL be the next
one to be buried"..now, picture a man standing up, looking down at me,
talking very very loud as if he were scolding me.....He said some other
things about my deceased grandmother etc. and then it was MY turn to
speak...
I told him to take his diet and shove it up his......and I walked out.
On my way out, a few others waiting to see the doctor, asked if I were
ok? So I asked them if this was their first visit...they replied No,
that they were on the program 2 years prior...So as I looked at them, I
asked..."IF the program works...WHY are you back?
And I walked out. From that day, even with increased exercise and a
vareful diet, I managed to gain back the 28lbs I lost, PLUS a bonus of
another 17lbs...
I put my body through hell, and my reward was bigger than when I
started.
Do I recommend this diet..? DEFINITELY NOT!!!!!This man needs to learn
to "Understand" what an overweight person is going through, and not
INSULT, DEGRADE, MOCK, HUMILIATE, YELL AT, or verbally abuse his
patients.
Everyone in his office KNOWS why they are there and they are there
because they acknowledged that they need help.....DON'T play with
someones emotional state..The results can be more damaging than good...

>I've been on the Bernstein Diet since November 20, 2001 and have lost 27 lbs and 24 inches to date. Yes it is a restrictive diet, however, once tuned into the foods that you can eat there is actually a wonderful variety of satisfying dishes you can make. I found that afer about 2 weeks I was used to the decreased amount of food and felt very well and energized. It is as with anything else a matter of will power, positive thinking, and initiating change in eating habits that will make any diet successfull.
