Re: PCOSFrom: Becky (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 3 Jan 2003 09:14:06 -0500
After trying to get pregnant through my OB/GYN for 5 years, I finally decided to go see an Endocronologist. He started me on Metformin and hopefully try to start Clomid in March. I did the whole low-carb diet about a year ago and lost 35-40 pounds. It helped to regulate my periods, but I still did not ovulate. Plus, when you go off of a crash diet, you tend to gain all the weight back plus some. I would suggest trying Weight Watchers or seeing a dietician. I haven't heard of any research regarding "ARmour Thyroid" and its effects on PCOS. Maybe it's something new??? I will always suggest getting a second opinion when it comes to having surgery. -----Original Message----- From: anonymous@obgyn.net [mailto:anonymous@obgyn.net Sent: Friday, January 03, 2003 9:09 AM To: Multiple recipients of list PCOS-DIET Subject: PCOS Dear All, I was just diagnosed with PCO or PCOS - I am not sure of the difference yet. We would like to have a baby and after a year we decided to check ourselves. That's the way I found out about my condition. My symptoms are weight gain, hair growth and irregular period. I saw that some of you mentioned low carb diet as a possible solution as well as a medication called Armour Thyroid. Where can I find more about these two? I am thankful for any advise, especially about how to get pregnant. One more thing: the doctor told me that a laporoscopy would be needed. Has any of you had one? Is it really necessary or is there other way? Thanks for your help.
