In response to Lisa's question to Heidi... Armour Thyroid, like Armour
Bacon comes from a pig...therefore it is natural. Synthroid is a
synthetic and I believe it is T4 whereas Armour is a balance of T3 and
T4 hormones. TSH is Thyroid Stimulating Hormone produced by the
pituitary gland to tell the Thyroid what to do. The thyroid then makes
T4 and then there is a conversion to T3 which I believe is the more
active hormone. The end result as I understand it is if you don't have
enough active thyroid hormone (Free T3) then you will have hypothyroid
symptoms. Most Doctors will say you are fine with a normal TSH. This
is very frustrating for women who KNOW there is a problem but is told
they are fine. Ask your Dr. if Synthroid is FDA approved. I think it
was held up for quite a while for some reason. Armour Thyroid is very
cheap. Maybe you can get your Dr to prescribe it based on cost alone.
