The Zone way of eating is a good way to get introduced to a healthier way of eating. It is less rigid than Atkins, and it has won the approval of many health providers who are still waiting to see the long term effects of very low carb diets. The books are farily easy to read, and the concepts promote good heatlh. Basically, it suggests you always eat protein with any carbs, and choose low glycemic carbs vs starchy carbs. It is a good place to start, and has been around for awhile. A strick very low carbohydrate way of eating does get ver borning for some, and not always successful. The object of The Zone is to help get your female hormones back into balance.

In my opinion, you want to find a way of eating that you can live with for the rest of your life, not just a quick fix weight loss diet.
