I always need juice or some sort of soda, or milk. Just something that has flavor. I refuse to drink water alone. However, I've been on the Atkins diet for just under a week and I've already lost 10lbs. And although I can't have juice or soda (yet), I can drink tea with sweetner instead of sugar (however i am trying to ween myself off the tea and just drink water alone). I went to see my endo yesterday and he said he was thrilled with my results so far. So if you're looking to lose weight, I'd definitely go the low carb route. It doesn't have to be Atkins, it could be any low carb program. I went into doing Atkins thinking how hard it was going to be to give up bread, pasta, juice, soda, etc., but it was only "semi"-hard for the first 2 days. After that I started feeling so much better and had so much more energy, and I lost 10lbs in a week, so I'm definitely motivated to stick with it. I know it's not always going to be 10lbs a week, but my endo says that it is definitely possible to get down to my ideal weight (currently 120lbs above my ideal).So I definitely recommend going the low carb route.
