I don't know if anyone else has had this problem. I was diagnosed in 1995 with PCOS and was put on BC Demulin. It helped a little with the menstruation, but not the weight.

My current Dr. put me on Metformin/Glucophage for a while. He said it would take approximately 6 months to make me start ovulating. After 7 months, and no results, I asked him to reevaluate it, he said, "Give it a few more months" so I did. And nothing happened... except the 47lbs I gained!!!!!! After several more months, I took myself off of the medication, and have not gone back to any. To this day I have lost 49lbs, Thank GOD! I exercise everyday, swimming mostly, and drink only water. I took myself off of caffiene in August of last year. Took myself off of any carbonated products at Christmas. Instead of periods only every six months, I've had it seven months out of this year, starting in January. The only habit I had changed was the drinking of carbonated beverages and caffiene intake. I am gradually changing some eating habits.. knocking out some carbs... but start with the water is the best I can say. 20 mins of exercise a day should help substantially! Water aerobics and swimming laps have worked the best for me. Altho, during winter, riding the exerbike is pretty much the same affect!

I would try to lose weight and regulate your period without taking medication, just from my personal experience. I really hate that I took a medicine that was supposed to help lose weight, and I gained almost 50. Just what a fat chick needs!!!!

Good luck!
