Hi - My name is Renae and I am 35. Although I have been overweight since about 12 or 13, and my cycles have always been long, I think the first real warning of something amiss came when I was 25 and I had two miscarriages within 6 months (the first one ON my 25th birthday!). I was finally diagnosed just a year ago after my OB educated himself on PCOS.

Self image has been an issue for me for as long as I can remember. I got into one relationship when I was in college that was horrendous. Thankfully God saw fit to put an end to that one. Then I met and married a wonderful guy - but we've had our issues. Things haven't always been wonderful. We have three boys. The first came easily. Then the two miscarriages and difficulty conceiving. Clomid (fertility drug) finally worked, and then we had our 3rd boy 13 months after the second one! :)

I read recently that the herb Saw Palmetto is good for excess hair.

What is BCP's?????

Birth Control Pills :)

And what meds have worked for some of you???

My doctor prescribed a moderately high protein/low fat diet and Glucophage. I hated the high protein diet, and refused to make my insurance company pay for the Gluco phage if I wasn't going to eat right, so I haven't taken it consistently. I am eating better now ( although nothing like my doctor's moderately high protein diet), and losing some weight in the process. I am trying some herbal things, you can email me off-list if you want more information on that. I think the herbs help in a few aspects, but even without the herbs, if you read some of my other posts on eating - you'll see, I feel SO much better. I am going to try not taking the herbs and taking Glucophage instead, but I haven't done that yet. I know some people say Glucophage (metformin) really helps.

Have you been to the SoulCysters web site? (http://www.soulcysters.com) It's a great place.

Glad you posted. Hopefully you can find some answers and start to turn things around, or at any rate know that you are in good company!
