Hey Jenn -

I'm with you in the 3 year boat (well, I might be next to you in the four year boat, but you get the idea). I too would love to find a way that would be faster. However, I think I read this thought on the SoulCysters website, and it hit really hard - no matter how long it takes to lose the weight, I'm going to spend the rest of my life keeping it off so does it really matter how long it takes to get it off? Reckoning with my weight and PCOS is going to be something that I have to deal with every day of every year for the rest of my life. I still don't like it, but I'm beginning to think that if I only lose 50 lbs this year, then at least next year I start 50 lbs lighter than I am this year. I'll be 50 lbs healthier. I know, I know, I know how it feels to just want to get it off and the quicker, the better. But I can't get away from the thought that there's not much difference between losing and maintaining so why not just chill out and enjoy the ride?

BTW - have you read Colette Harris's book, The PCOS Diet? I recently ordered it from Amazon (I got The PCOS Diet, Harris's book on dealing with PCOS, and a book on Syndrome X for $30 and free shipping - not bad!). I've been reading it today and I'm really enjoying it. Partly because it's coming from a woman who has successfully battled PCOS. Partly because her diet gives me HOPE. I tried lo-carb and it was SO hard - about made me crazy before I decided my sanity was worth more than weight loss. She places a heavy emphasis on fruits and vegetables as the source for carbs and fiber (I've always rebelled against diets that restrict fruits/veggies - you can't convince me that a carb God created is off-limits). She gives reasons for everything she says. I look at the eating style she teaches and I think, "I c an DO this!" Gotta go stock up on fresh produce first though . . .
