Hi Nicole -

I'm not a lot of help to you as I feel like my worst days are over (and not because of anything I've done). I know I felt vindicated when I read someone's post the other day and she talked about skin tags . . . I thought "Hey! I never knew that was part of it!" I've about given up on the skin tags, they just pop up all over the place. As far as diet, I'm not much help, but I can tell you about my experience. I lost the most weight on some type of conservative regimen - the first time I did Weight Watchers. I lost 25 lbs, but then couldn't lose anymore (and, yes, I had plenty left to lose!) The second time I just did it myself, took an herbal product, monitored my portions, and walked faithfully. I lost 50 lbs and then the scale wouldn't budge again. I was finally diagnosed about a year and a half after that. Doc suggested a moderately high protein-low carb diet. Basically, the recommendation was to eat more meat. Avoid corn, peas, carrots, and potatoes. Avoid all white grains, and eat brown grains only in moderation. Well, I can say I tried. I did not lose any weight. But I felt better. Eating normally makes me SO sleepy in the afternoon, so I find that I feel better if I do focus on protein and veggies at lunch and skip the carbs. I still follow that rule - when I feel like it, and corn isn't calling me too loudly :) - however, I have not lost any weight. I don't follow the diet strictly because I was obsessing over it, and I found that my every waking thought had to do with food and my next meal. I felt like I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown over it, and I had to choose my mental health. However, I am currently in the midst of an active pursuit of a lifestyle/diet answer to my weight issues. Hopefully you'll get some answers that will help me too! Just remember that what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another. Approach it as trial and error. Take recommendations and keep trying until you find what works for you.
