Re: Message for Jennifer in reply to 02.03.01From: Sue (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 27 Oct 2002 01:05:55 -0600 (CST)
Hi! I'm not sure I understand this very well.. don't know who Laney is. I did find, when I gave up gluten that I craved it for a while.. a bit like giving up smoking. But then equally, when that passes you wonder what all the fuss was about. Now I look at bread or gluten products and feel nothing. Don't like the taste of chocolate. Don't crave sweet things. And I believe the reason is, apart from it being absent in my diet...and it's reported that although our bodies tell us when to stop when it comes to eating fats or proteins, they can't when it comes to refined carbohydrates...cos they get confused about what's going on! ...the reason is because of my increased intake of animal fat...unpasteurised milk and it's products, meat, eggs from worm-eating chickens etc. I am satiated on what looks like very little..never hungry. We really have to throw away the old and dangerous idea of high carb, low fat diet. If you're interested check out this site and it's wealth of information: If you're niece has CD...it might be worth getting checked out..it does run in families. But be aware of false negative tests. Or you could try experimenting...cutting out all gluten and/or cutting out all starches and/or glucose and see how you feel. Be observant, 'listen' to your body..it'll tell you way more than any medical investigation can. Good luck.
