Help! I cannot loose the weight. I am only 26 years old and have very high cholesterol. From: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 1 Oct 2002 20:01:43 -0500 (CDT)
I was diagnosed with PECOS when I was 15 years old. That was the last I heard about it until last year when I began seeing a psychologist for my weight issues. I was never told anything about the syndrome, and therfore it was highly over looked. My psychologist then told me for the first time that I was pretty much infertile(which was devestating to my ears) and that having PCOS was a major factor in why I have such a hard time losing weight. I was finally given my first pamphlet about PCOS last year and now I understand why my body can feel so out of control all the time especially when it comes to my eating habits. Here I am left about 60 pounds overweight, Type 2 diabetes, High Bp and dangerously High cholesterol. I often feel very alone in this syndrome. There is not alot of info given to paitents in my neck of the woods Vermont. And beyond that the everyday fight to not be hungry and sluggish all the time is very hard for me to deal with because my heart and many parts of my brain tell me that I am a normal 26 year old woman who like all of her surroundings are not different. I have a hard time with diets from a book because I cannot possibly afford all the food they require for me to buy nor do I have the time to prepare it all. I work two jobs to pay my way. I was recently approved for a Gastric bypass by my doctor. I have not decided if it is something that I can do yet. Will it make the PCOS easier or more mild? Will I be able to concieve eaiser. Will the PECOS go away? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you for letting me vent. Amy Rae
