Re: Just diagnosed

I too have had PCOS for several years and was misdiagnosed. The Glucophage had me running to the bathroom only for the first week or two. I have actually felt much better now that I am taking it and I have had no other side effects. I dropped 25lbs w/ very low carb diet alone, and lost 2 sizes. I did add excercise to my regime after several months. But I think the glucophage has helped some but not tremendously on the weight issue.

Acne was my worst symptom of PCOS. I had severe cystic acne which was diagnosed over and over again as impetigo. I have tried virtually ever herb and acne medication. The only one that finally cleared up my skin was accutane, drastic but necessary for me. I am 36 and do public speaking and it was very embarrassing. Within weeks the acne was gone. However, the accutane has created some hair loss, which I did not have w/PCO and this may get worse until my entire course of medication has been done. 4 more months! Make sure to see a Dermatologist who has some knowledge of PCO, I got mine through a clinic that also had an endocrinologist so this is a long process.

Good Luck!
