I will be the first to step up the plate.... First of all.. you are way ahead of all of us.. congrats on having a child....he is blessing, and your 1st priority of course... but you have to remember you too... First thing to know is that glucophage will make you go to the bathroom most likely for a few weeks to a month.. without very much warning... your stomach will ache also most likely... you will be prone to eating bread and crackers.. do not... the step toward controlling your PCOS is controlling your intake of Carbs and sugar. That means bread, crackers, pasta, rice, and potatoes are your enemies for the rest of you life. You can have some, but very very very little. Your diet needs to permanent change. Complex carbs and sugars are poison to our bodies in large or even moderate amounts. You want to eat lots of fish and chicken, low carb veggies, and a small amount of fruit. I am more extreme than most in that I do not eat anything (except tofu) that has an ingredients label unless those ingredients are natural and non chemical. This is tough... I hate it, but I do it. You need to start slow and take your body off carbs and sugar. Both of these items will control insulin, cholesterol, and triglycerides.. Which in turn will regulate weight to a point but you have to exercise... you will want to eventually because your energy level will raise. After a few months, things will start to come back to normal.. but your diet will play the most important part for the rest of your life. I wish you well. Please make sure you have an Endocrinologist who knows about PCOS.. that is key.. because your levels and meds have to monitored.. I go to the Doc every 12 weeks... I hope this helps.. you are not alone... Please write often.. we are all int his together and can help... be well. Deb mcdbb@aol.com
