weight loss on old weight watchersFrom: Maria (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 9 Sep 2002 13:37:37 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, I'm still new to this whole PCOS thing, and my diagnosis isn't firm yet, but a lot of things seem to make sense with the diagnosis. For one, why I lost weight on the old Weight Watchers diet when I was a teen but GAINED weight on the new Winning POints program. Anyway, I don't have the old diet anymore, but what I do have, for those of you interested, is this book called Turn Up the Heat. My sister lent it to me and I gave it back, so I don't recall the author's name. But it does have programs for people with different types of metabolism, including those of us who can't handle carbs. The QuickStart Diet the book offers (if you want to lose weight a little faster, but only do it for 2-3 weeks and then go into the regular program) is similar to the Old Weight Watchers' program: lots of fish and veggies, lean chicken, etc. I've lost about 3 pounds in the last week just doing that -- and not very religiously, either (was thrown off by Roshashana dinners:-). IT does allow for some carbs, so depending on your level of insulin resistance, it might not be for you. But it's worth checking out at the bookstore if you have time. I really am feeling great! Just thought I'd share, Maria
