pcosFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 17 Aug 2002 08:55:12 -0500 (CDT)
My 15 year old daughter has PCOS. We found out yesterday. She has always been on the heavy side, and we could never understand why. She is/was a small eater and quite active. Until she had problems with her period we were in the dark. I insisted that her doctor refer us to a gyno. This woman has been a saint. Her first concern was to control the long heavy periods. After having her start taking oral conterceptives for 4 months she started with the blood tests to find out why my daughter was having problems. Well the result is PCOS...She also is now being watched for diabetic onset. Can anyone tell us what to expect? What works well for them? and also how many teens have this pcos? Thanx
