Hi, don't know if this will help, but here goes. I was initial diagnosed with PCOS and hypothyroid. Treatment of both (with thryoid replacement and insulin sensitiser) has seen a dramatic improvement in my cholesterol.
>From my research the following may help:- 1. Vigorous aerobic exercise, as often as possible 2. Moderate intake of red wine (like 1 glass a night) 3. Eat healthy fats (olive oil, avocados, all sorts of fish). Apparently a very low fat diet can actually make cholesterol worse. Avoid saturated and highly process fats like the devil. Have only moderate intake of red meat and keep it lean 4. Don't smoke. 5. Keep away from sweet, sugary and highly process foods (this is my addition to the list) Low carb diet and 'anti-cholesterol' diet are not necessarily in opposition. Atkins diet apparently results in a reduction in cholesterol despite the meat and fat. Keep away from processed carbohydrates and very sweet foods (apparently insulin can have a big impact on cholesterol levels). High cholesterol or dislipidaemia are very common in PCOS...... treating the PCOS should also help the cholesterol..... If you are trying to manage weight you can stick to lean proteins, even if doing low carb. Best wishes
