Re: I have PCOS and I have found an answer to weight loss! From: Renee (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 02 Jul 2002 08:08:16 -0700
I took a look at the website. Anything with that great an initial weight loss is mostly water weight. The questions are: 1) will it stay off, 2) will there be a continuation of weight loss beyond the initial water weight (keeping in mind that anyone taking a weight loss supplement will take other actions to take weight off). The ingredients are mostly herbal and protein. Ginsing, Ginko, Aloe, peppermint, etc., and a bunch of herbs I haven't heard about and know nothing about (maybe someone else will). There is also chromium and inositol in some of them, though it doesn't state how much inositol, or what form the chromium is in. Those may have an impact as well. One reason for the weight loss is that they enourage you to drink 4 oz. of their weight loss drink as a meal replacement. That's 4 oz! And, it's only 5 calories! That could have something to do with the weight loss. Something to keep in mind is that if you are on a carb restriction, these carbs will add up fast. The drink and snacks have several carbs each, and the shake has 22 per serving (effective carbs). Renee
