PCOS and Kidney DietFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 29 Jun 2002 03:05:03 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Ladies, I am diagnosed with PCOS and Hypothyroid nearly a year ago and being treated with Met and Thyroxine. Have been doing really well on a lower carb diet and feeling much better. Now appears that I have kidney problems and they are doing more tests. Fortunately it seems that whatever it is is still pretty early and I hope it could be managed by lifestyle and drugs, rather than anything worse. Does anyone have experience with low carb diets and kidney failure diets. I am already told to have low salt diet, increase fluids, and to restrict protein. Need to see what else they tell me after they finish the tests. I understand that kidney diet is usually high carb. I don't want to go to high carb. I still need to lose about 35 lbs and I am scared that it will be impossible if I can't restrict carbs. It is already very difficult to lose weight and the plateaus are always much longer than the periods of any weight loss. If anyone has any advice or experience I would really appreciate. Terri
