Wow, lots of questions, and where to start. IR== Insulin Resistance == means your cells resist the intended action of insulin. Levels build, and you develop hyperinsulinemia. This can lead to other things. PCOS = Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. A constellation of symptoms that have specific effects on ones system. Usually characertized by irregular cycles, and sudden weight gain, with difficulty losing weight.

You might just have a sluggish metabolism, related to the hysterectomy. Nutrition and diet, along with exercise can improvie IR.
