Marti - I think it's great that you're sticking with the low-carb lifestyle, despite the challenges you have encountered. I noticed that you said you were taking Metamucil - recall that has sugar in it. There are other options that you might want to investigate - with your doc's ok of course! - Psyllium Husk capsules (works great for me) and there's a new fiber supplement on the market called Beneful or something like that - I haven't seen it in my town yet, but heard that it doesn't have sugar and is not gritty, etc.
