PCOS for 20 years began GlucophageXR today

Hi, I am new to your forums so please bare with me if I don't know all of your rules yet.

I have had PCOS for over 20 years. I lost a premature infant in 1980 and conceived via IVF in 1989 and give birth to a son in Dec 1989 at 36 weeks gestation.

I have gradually gained alot of weight over the 20 years plus. I have had multiple laparotomies for adhesions related to a myomectomy perfomed shortly after the premature birth 22 years ago.

At age 45 I now find that I am borderline diabetic with neuropathy in both feet. I went to an endocrinologist yesterday who took alot of time with me but of course wants me to lose weight (interestingly I have lost 45 lbs. in the past 7 months.) He began me on GlucophageXR and overall I have to say I was very pleased with his care so far.

Since my IVF attempts I am a bit out of the loop when it comes to information. In 1999 I went in for surgery for a complete hysterectomy to try to rid me of the pain I have had for so many years. I unfortunately still have my ovaries, uterus and parts of my damaged tubes and wound up with a severe methicillin resist staph aureus wound infection that laid me up for 6 months, VN's packing it twice a day at home after a prolonged hosptial stay.

I now also suffer from fibromyalgia.

If anyone can give me any input on types of diets they feel are working for them I would appreciate it. I know I need to lose alot more weight, it just isn't easy.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks Michelle
