Re: diet helpFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netTue, 30 Apr 2002 07:36:16 EDT
Lisa, Hi, I am Deb. I was diagnosed last year. I am on Metfomin/glucophage and Spironolactone. You cannot take the latter as it causes birth defects. The dietary life of someone with PCOS varies on need but one basic principle is across the board. Low carbs. There are carbs in 80-90% of all food. You can get what you need through daily consumption of veggies. Stay away from bread, pasta, rice, potatoes as a rule (we all know, it stinks), and if you have any of these, my Endo suggests twice the serving of protein to a 1/2 serving of carbs. Might I also suggest finding yourself a Reproductive Endocrinologist. They work wonders with PCOS patients who are trying to conceive. God Bless, you are not alone. Deb New Jersey Mcdbb@aol.com
