Just to put my .02 cents in, make sure you also check out The Carbohydrate Addict's Diet by Drs Richard and Rachael Heller. I have been on it for 4 days, but I haven't experienced the savage headaches I got on Atkins. I lost lots on Atkins, but couldn't maintain it and so gained it back, plus 7 lbs. CAD is slow and steady and seems so far to be a very easy diet to follow and maintain. I haven't been hungry and am also actually craving vegetables! I haven't wanted any vegetable for almost a year, so this is a huge breakthrough for me. If you are also looking for a great way to chart your progress, I suggest http://www.fitday.com. I learned about it from the SoulCysters board - it is wonderful.

Good luck to you! Tanica SoulCyster ( http://www.soulcyster.com )

I would get a few books -- Atkins New Diet Revolution (this is the "purist's" low carb diet and the one I follow), Sugar Busters, The Zone, the Suzanne Somers diet which I think is called Somersizing. <snip>
