I'm in the same boat. I actually like veggies and salad though - a lot. What I do is mix my veggies and salads with meat. For instance, try eating a chef salad, with ham and turkey, or a ceasar salad with chicken. Or, have a plate of chicken or steak stir fry.

You only need to eat the equivalent of 2 cups of veggies a day. You can also mix things that are high protein into your salads like eggs, and I also love putting cheese in my salads, especially cottage cheese, which also means I need to use less dressing.

I think your problem is that you tried to eat nothing but veggies, and didn't balance your diet appropriately. Once you learn what foods need to be mixed with others, you'll do fine. :)
