When I was first diagnosed with PCOS 14 years ago, I was a "classic" case. My periods were very infrequent, I had the hair thing happening everywhere. Even a thick "snail trail" from my breasts to my belly button, which was barely visible under the hair UGG! My ovaries were HUGE and covered with cysts (there is a picture of my ovaries is some medical journal somewhere) and all my blood tests were up the creek. But, I wasn't overweight at all. Now, I am obese, the male pattern hair has disappeared completely except for a about three pluckable chin hairs. After 5 years on a VERY high dose pill, my ovaries returned to a normal size and my periods are very 28 days but are like niagra falls! They last for 19 days a cycle! I still needed injectible medication to get pregnant again and am insulin resistant, but all other symptoms have disappeared! If losing weight means my testosterone levels climb up again, I can live with that. I have a friend with PCOS who takes the 'Dianne' pill and she said it helps regulate her periods and stop the male pattern hair growth. I hope it works for me. I've completed my family so a hysterectomy is the next step, then perhaps medication to control the testosterone will be enough.
