Hi!

I would like to concur with Lisa's and Barbara's posts on this issue!

I am a runner (I run 20 - 30 miles a week, depending on my fatigue level!) and a vegetarian. In the past, I followed the conventional "healthy diet" guidelines, with the bulk of calories coming from carbohydrates - especially rice, pasta etc. (Easy for a veggie!)

As part of a research project, I had my food intake monitored for a month recently, and was told that my calorie intake was insufficient to maintain a normal weight - so I know I wasn't eating excessive amounts!

Nevertheless I steadily put on weight for two years. Excercise and portion control made not one iota of difference to the steadily increasing fat round my middle.

Since reading these lists, and getting inspiration as well as information, from them - I have changed my diet to cut right down on carbs and get more protein, plus a chromium supplement..............and in the last 10 weeks I have eaten MORE and yet lost 10lbs!!

I still have a way to go - but suddenly it seems possible; I have some control again. And it is only the food choices I make which has changed So thanks to everyone out there - you may not know it, but you have ALL helped me!

Deborah
