Losing WeightFrom: Elizabeth (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 4 Jan 2002 10:08:02 -0600 (CST)
I have been a PCOS sufferer since I was 21. I was always very thin 5'8 and weighed 103 pounds. In two months at the age of 21 I gained 45 pounds and my periods ceased to exsist. Since that time I have been through it all with this disease. Losing hair while gaining facial hair (now isn't that a kick in the teeth) weighing at heaviest 238 lbs, being told I would never have children. A doctor offering to wedge my ovaries...thank the Lord I didn't do that. Four endoscropic procedures, heavy periods, etc... The blessings are in between this bouts I have managed to have two beautiful girls (We have not used birth control in 9 years and have never conceived again.) This past year I finally found a vitamin program/weight loss that has worked and have now gone from a size 18/20 to a 10/12. It has taken 8 months to loose 40 lbs and 33 1/2 inches. Which while it is slow medically speaking we know it is healthier than a super fast weight drop. I have not had any issues with holding my weight down and in fact have lost quite a bit more inches than weight. The facial hair is still there but at least my hair is not falling out anymore and I am trying to walk 5 miles 4-5 days a week so my energy level is great. If anyone is interested in this program just write back... It really has help me. I am going to be 40 in a year & 1/2 and made up my mind I was not going to spend the next 20 years feeling unhealthy like I spent the last 17 regardless of my disease.
