Starchy carbs seem to be the culprit. It depends upon who you talk to, who you believe. Low glycemic carbs are usually okay. Pasta, breads, grains, rice, potatoes, corn, peas, and certain vegetables like beets. The more you eat, the more you like. Complex carbs are like sugar in your body, and seem to interfere with metabolism, making Insulin resistance worse. Insulin resistance is when your cells resist the insulin that your body naturally makes. So, it would follow to avoid things that increase your insulin surge, and this means starchy carbs and fruits. Do not follow the USDA food pyramid, but rather a low carb approach.

I've recently had to rebuild my web pages, and this includes my low carb pages, that are still 'in process'. If some of the links don't work, let me know. In the meantime, here are a list of great books that support this way of thinking. Don't be hard on yourself, and don't allow yourself to get too rigid. What seems to happen is as you substitute low starch carbs for high starch ones, and eat more protein, the cravings for the starchy carbs goes away. Balanced Eating:

Remember, your goal is to prevent the long term consequences of Insulin Resistance, which is a worsening of PCOS and subsequent diabetes. I'm sure this group will have more to say on this.
