Hi Jamie,

I hope you find some comfort in this. I,too, gained weight with exercise. Remeber, muscle weights more than fat. In a week with exercise, you may think you have gained say, three pounds,,but in essence, you probably lost fat and water and gained muscle. You talk about getting muscle tone...that is a good sign. I am working with a nutritionist,,,,,don't look at the scale for a while. YOu seem to be on the right track here....I thought the same as you...you are working out and getting muscle tone.Take a pair of pants,,,ones that are the best fitting, and do this easy test.Forget the scale, rather, concentrate on how these pants fit you during a couple weeks.Document your weight the beginning og the two weeks and then right after. If you see the the pants are still fitting the same,or,as in my case,,fitting better, more looser,,you may jump on the scale at the end of the two weeks to get discouraged about the numbers,as it may show no differnece in weightloss..but in fact you may have lost a few pounds of water and fat,,gained muscle..as to stabilize your metabolism. I know this may all sound so strange..but I do suggest reading the "Protein Power Diet",by Michael and Mary Eades. This will explain more in depth to what I am talking about. I used to have a normal weight of 125 lbs before PCOS...then I suffer drastic weight loss, also muscle loss-atrophy...then after the diet,,instead,I gained muscle and still look like I am 125 lbs,,but not fat,,but I weight 150 lbs...mostly muscle. The only problems that I have with my body,is my abdomen, which inflates, especailly before the onset of my menses,,then disappears.Yes,the more water you drink, the less water retention you will have, especially,if you use a little lemon(natural diuretic). Hoping this helps and please don't be discouraged. I applaud you for taking the approach to caring for your body. Be well.
