Re: lower carbing

I started on Atkins Feb 25 this year after my doctor dx me with PCOS. By the middle of March I had my first ovulation in 5 months. (We practice Natural Family Planning so my charts tell me when I have and have not ovulated.) Since then I have had a normal cycle (ovulation and menstruation) about every 30-40 days. I've been eating a low carb diet for about 10 months now. It seems to me that as long as I watch what I'm eating that my cycle will continue to be normal and I reduce my chances for Type II diabetes when I get older.

As far as vitamins and minerals go, we're just starting a family within the next year so right now I take Lifetime Professional Prenatal Vitamins along with my oils (flax, borage, evening primrose, fish). Before we ttc I was taking Optivite vitamins.

My weight came off initially, but I wasn't exercising. My weight then plateaued and now that I'm exercising as well as eating low carb, the weight is beginning to come off again.

You should probably research what the best diet is when you're breastfeeding. I know they say don't low carb while you're pregnant, but I don't know about breastfeeding.

Hope that helps,
