Well, considering the circumstances, I would be certain that your daughter is insulin resistant (IR) by having a fasting blood sugar test done. If she is not IR, then she would probably be better off doing something like Weight Watchers and exercising. Weight Watchers simply teaches you to eat a bit of everything (from all the food groups) in moderation, which may work better for a teenager. It is a relatively easy program to follow.
