It is understandable that you are scared after finding the lump. You MUST go to the doctor and have it tested. It will be a scary thing to face. But, the pain of the mammogram will pale in comparison to severity of what will happen if you have breast cancer and do nothing. Please be strong and get treatment for your own sake. The fear of the unknown will haunt you until you face it. If you can't do it for your own sake than do it for the sake of your children who need more than a memory of their mother. I am sorry if you think that sounds harsh. I have never had breast cancer, but my mother has found lump after lump. She got medical treatment and is still here to be my "mommie" when I need her. Yes, breast cancer is painful...Yes mammograms are unpleasant. Living with the lump and the fear is painful and unpleasant, too. If you don't get yourself to the doctor; it may be to late to save yourself.
