Re: Breast pain, lumps and low libedo!!From: Pepper (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 20 Sep 2001 11:13:37 -0500
Shelley, I really think that you do need to see a doctor. My mother was 30 years old when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was really scared when she found the lump, about the size of a pea, she waited 6 months before she went to the doctor. If caught early enought, breast cancer is not a death sentence. My mother lived a long and happy life after that but was told if she had waited any longer then she might not be as fortunate. I never recall my mother saying it was painful as far as the lump was concernced. I too am having one of my ovaries removed next week, I have had terrible problems with cysts on my right ovary and my doctor who went in last December to remove it said it was just fine and left it. Well low & behold, I now have a large cyst again and terrible pains in my right side. The ultrasound revealed that my ovary was swollen 4 times what it should be. My doctor said he needs to go in and remove the cyst. I made him promise to take the ovary also. I was wondering if you have had any problems with your other ovary since having one removed? My pain has always been on my right side and I am worried that once I have my right one removed then I would start having problems with my left side. I also have endometriosis that could possibly spread to the left side. I was thinking since my husband & I cant have children anyway maybe it would be better to get a full hysterectomy. My doctor keeps discouraging that due to hormone problems. I realize that a hysterectomy wont get rid of the symptoms of PCOS but it would releave most of my pain and prevent me from have further problems with my ovaries. Any suggestions????? Melissa
