Hi Jennifer, I am also new to this condition and this site. I am trying to cut out most process 'white' flours stuff - like cakes, bread, rice, pasta, potation etc - but eating all the fruits veges and healthy foods I want and staying low fat. I don't want to try to follow some low-carb diet to the T. I am not that sort of person. Actually, I am finding it much easier than I thought and am not having any pigout attacks (miracle of miracles!) - so far - though the weight loss is so slow and difficult - cant lose more than 1 lb or so a week even when eating very low calorie. Actually I am finding I feel better when I don't eat (energy-wise) than when I do - is that strange?! - but sometimes collapse (figuratively - cause I feel so tired) after eating. Also the time of day that I eat has an impact - eating carbs in the am has less effect on feeling tired than eating at mid-day or evening. So I am trying to have my main meal at breakfast..... currently in experimentation! I think that part of this is about learning to be in touch with our bodies, particularly what foods have what effect and what makes us feel better (easy to say.... not so easy to do). Nice to have these sites! Best wishes and good luck. Sally
