Re: Help Needed on PCOS Dieting

Another UK person: again ended up having to go private to get any sensible advice. My GP agreed to do a scan, which showed nothing, but everything else pointed to PCOS (and my younger sister has it too).

I just went because of the inability to lose any weight (tried weight watchers, Rosemary Conley - the lot), and I've been exercising madly for the last year or two. The exercise has meant that I maintained a stable weight, but no more. But yesterday I got the result of a glucose tolerance test which has finally given me the answer I needed. I have been to specialists at the Centre for Nutritional Medicine in London, and they have advised a very low carb diet, with no refined sugars (goodbye to all those donuts, chocolates etc!), but increasing my protein intake (which helps stabilise my blood sugar, and reduces those cravings). It seems to be starting to work (I started a couple of weeks ago), but its early days yet. But the guys at CNM seem to know their stuff, and they listen too.

Good luck all!
