Ohh my gosh!!! You sound EXACTLY like me. Ever since puberty I've slowly gained weight but in a two year period I gained 60 pounds and then I went through a similar weight gain about 8 years ago where I gained 40 pounds in 1 year. I will admit since I got married I eat more junk food but my husband and I agree I don't eat enough to be as overweight as I am <26, 5'8", 292>. I've tried all sorts of diets and Weight Watchers worked for me once about 4 years ago where I lost 30 pounds but of course I put that back on. I've been on the pill since I was 13 years old and did not stop until I was 19, so I had regualr periods that whole time. As soon as I got off the pill I stopped having regualr periods. In 1998 I stopped having periods all together. My OBGYN put me on some hormone to stimulate progestrone and give me a period. I had one period and got pregnant. After birth I had regualr periods for a while until I made the mistake of going back on the pill. That lasted a couple months until I could not handle the mood swings associated with the pill. Once I stopped the pill so did the periods. Now my husband and I want to have another child and I've only had 2 periods this year, both as a result of being put on this medication to stimulate progestrone. So the past couple of months I've been to my primary care physician and OBGYN trying to figure out what is wrong with me. I'm loosing hair on my head, I have facial and abdominal hair, rapid weight gain, hard to loose weight, moody, fatigue, no periods, etc. I thought it my be my thyroid. Of course both doctors did a few blood tests and could not find anything abnormal. So my OBGYN tells me I have PCO. She suggests I see a dietician and do aerobic exercise 20 min. a day. So I know exactly how you feel. I am so MAD at these doctors for their inability to diagnose a problem or listen. Not to mention the weight issue is really frustrating. Every time I go to the doctor for any reason I get a lecture on how I need to loose wieght but they just don't understand I TRY and CANNOT!!!!!! So this weekend I did buy a treadmill to see if that helps me stick to a regualr exercise program. So your not alone.
