Dear Faith: I certainly understand how you feel. I too have been recently diagnosed with PCOS although I have had the symptoms for over 11 years. I had talked with my doctor and all he did was put me on birth control pills too. However, even birth control pills stopped working to keep me regulated and I eventually stopped taking them as well. I recently found a doctor that I really like and he is the one who told me about PCOS. I have tried to lose weight but could not. I eat hardly anything yet continue to gain weight. I also have the excess hair on my face and torso and I have recently started losing the hair on my head. I was very scared too especially when I began to notice my mood swings and lack of energy. My doctor told me that I needed to be walking at least 4 miles a day. He said that he didn't know what it was about the 4 mile mark that worked but anything less than 4 tended to have poor results but that walking at least 4 miles a day would start the weight coming off. I have not tried it yet because I am having surgery this week and won't be able to start until I recover from my hysterectomy but it certainly couldn't hurt to try. Please let me know if it works for you! I will certainly keep you in my prayers and hope you remember that you are not alone.
