Just diagnosed

I was just diagnosed with PCOS last month. A few years ago, I was able to lose weight very easily and could keep myself fairly thin. But within the past couple of years, the weight has poured on and I can't seem to get it off. (I am 24) I will try to diet and after not seeing any progress I become discouraged. I was wondering what other PCOS patients have done that helped them to decrease their weight.

I struggle with my insulin levels all the time and find I have to keep sugar nearby or I get very ill feeling.

Also, how do y'all handle comments made by non PCOS people telling you to lose weight?

One other thing I wondered is does being overweight cause PCOS or does PCOS cause being overweight?

I have a lot of questions. ;o)

Thanks for your help.
