Angie, I am not an expert on Metformin but have been on it in the past. The goal with Metformin is that your body will produce and use insulin correctly, therefore helping you to lose weight. This is a very basic answer. I was on Metformin for about 2 months and lost no weight. Please research the drug and really talk it over with your doctor. I have IBS on top of the PCOS and had very severe side effects - intestional bleeding. THIS IS NOT COMMON. It can effect your bowels in other ways, make sure you understand this before you try it! I hope it works for you!
