Brand new....From: Laura (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 11 Jul 2001 11:18:30 -0500 (CDT)
Hi - I'm 25 years old and I'm about to start a PCOS research study at a women's hospital in my city. To be honest, I didn't really know about all the risks that were associated with PCOS until I was contacted about the study. I have been diagnosed with PCOS since I was 15 years old. Since then the weight has been coming on steadily (thank heavens it's not totally my fault) and I have had to deal with the stresses of excess body hair. I have light skin and my hair is jet black and thick - you can imagine my self-consciousness. In any event, things seem to be looking up for me now. I'm so glad that my condition is something that is being taken seriously. Many things about PCOS are out of our control, but we can work together to change the things we can control. Like our state of mind. I cry a lot about this thing, but I also know that support systems like this help SO much. Now that I'm about to start a rigid diet/exercise plan supervised by the research team at the hospital, does anybody have any advice on how to stay motivated and focussed? I'd appreciate any help you might be able to give me. Also, please feel free to ask me anything you'd like about my condition - I'll tell you everything I can. Thanks sisters - let's stay strong together!
-- Laura
