I think the met/glucophage is good for ALL aspects of PCOS--not just the weight issue.  Unlike BCPs or the anti male hormone meds, it strikes at the actual CAUSE of all the symptoms of PCOS (weight gain, irregular periods, acne, haior growth)--the insulin problem.  I think that you should try the met/glucophage before resorting to a more drastic measure like surgery.  Like your doctor said, the only thing surgery would fix would be the irregular bleeding--but the bleeding might go away if you try some of the insulin sensitizing drugs like glucophage/the met.  Please consider these meds before surgery.  Even without your uterus, ovaries, etc. you will still have PCOS.
