Re: please helpFrom: JEN (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 21 Jun 2001 13:51:49 -0400
I have suffered with pcos for the most part all of my adult life. I have been to a reproductive specialist and everyone else for that matter and I am having a hysterectomy. The specialist himself told me that i will feel 100% better and have no more pain and sufffering! I will have my surgery on July 20th!
>----- Original Message ----- Read this one and thought I'd better send a reply. First off, metformin, also known as glucophage, are used to help control insulin resistance, which tends to be a problem with most PCOS folks. It has nothing to do with whether one wants to become pregnant or not. Secondly, I cringe when ever I hear someone mentioning a hysterectomy as a cure for PCOS. It has been proven that this will NOT correct the hormone imbalances we suffer from. It really scares me when I hear someone saying their doctor recommended this as a treatment to them. You might be wise to consider getting a second opinion from a reproductive specialist, if you can find one, as they are up on the latest treatments for PCOS. Leslie
