Can you have normal test results and still have PCOS?From: anonymous@obgyn.netWed, 20 Jun 2001 19:39:18 -0500 (CDT)
Has anyone ever had normal test results (tesosterone, FSH, LH levels, etc.) but still been diagnosed with PCOS? My doctor thought I might have PCOS, but all my labs came back within normal ranges. But in doing my own research, it seems like every symptom I have is listed somewhere under the syndrome. I am 31, have had irregular periods since my early 20s, now don't get a period unless I take bcps, recently gained 50 pounds, have excess facial hair, acne, feel constantly headachy and fatigued, nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, etc. I do have cysts on my ovaries, but an ultrasound shows large cysts, not small ones. Two years ago, I was at the point I'm at now, went to several doctors who did not diagnose anything; then the cysts burst and it was complete, immediate reversal. I lost 30 pounds in about two months with no special diet or exercise and continued to lose weight/maintain normal weight for about a year and a half, then it suddenly switched again. Has anyone else had these symptoms? Does this sound like PCOS? My doctor says he doesn't know how to help me. Does anyone out there have any advice?!? dawna
