Hi Faith,

firstly I want to say I know just how you feel as do most of us in the forum, I have been diagnosed with PCOS for 6 years and in that time I tried just about any and every diet, and diet pill, and formula, and no weight loss, The doctors would not help me they just used to say loose weight ,,, you are not trying hard enough, well I felt terrible, I felt that could just give up and live like I am, Well my Hubby and I came to the Uk 3 years ago and I got referred to a infertility clinic, well they did the bood tests and confirmed that I had PCOS (which I already knew) well every two or three months I had an appointment and the doc told me loose weight ,,,,,, so I tried and from about November 2000 to May 2001(my next appointment) I did a very low fat diet I ate only one meal ( which consisted of 4-6 rice cakes) in the evening and you know what I gained weight.

Well I went to my appointment and told the doc how I tried and the fact that I went to Gym for 2 hours every day, he said he would refer me to a specialist who deals in PCOS and mentioned that he might put me on metformin... but the catch is I would have to wait as there was a long list to see him, well I took all the info to my doc about Metformin that I could find and begged him to put me on it, well he did

I have been on it for about 7 weeks now and within the first 3 week I had a period ( I have not had one since Oct2000) and about a week ago I had a weigh and measure appointment and without even trying very hard I have lost 8lb's you can imagin my excitement,

the reason I am telling you this is because I want you to now that there is answer out there, just try and hang in there, hWhy dont you ask your Doc to try you on Metformin ( Glucophage) but take some info from the net with you, there are some side effects which ware off, but they are bareable.
