Re: Dexatrim?From: Leslie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 31 May 2001 13:14:11 -0700
Hi there If Dexatrim has caffeine in it, I would avoid it, since caffeine actually agitates PCOS and will actually make your symptoms worse. Usually PCOS is accompanied by insulin resistance, and it would be a good idea to get yourself tested for that, if you haven't already. There are medications that can help that condition, if that is an issue for you. It sounds, because of your weight gain, that that may be one of your difficulties in losing weight. Most ladies with PCOS tend to stick with either a low carbohydrate diet, a whole foods diet, or a low glycemic diet. I myself tend to combine the three ideas, using the low glycemic diet as a guide, and ALWAYs using whole grains when I do carbs. Just something to think about. PCOS can usually be controlled by diet, but sometimes medication can help move things along faster, which is probably why your doc wants to wait a bit. Hope this helps a little bit! Lekili
