Dexatrim?From: ALW (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 31 May 2001 14:59:09 -0500 (CDT)
Dear All: I was diagnosed with PCOS just this month (but knew something was up -- I gained 100 lbs. in 18 months) and am trying to remain positive and proactive. The biggest problem for me has been the weight gain. I shot up (see above!) and am completely unused to being the body size I have become. I am working with my physician, but she wants to wait until I've worked with the nutritionist for three or so months before trying medication. Unfortunately, the nutritionist isn't seeing anyone for the forseeable future (staff shortages). So, what now? On the advice of a previous doctor I've been fighting to keep to approx. 1200 calories a day plus an hour of treadmill every other (well, ok, every third) day. I am hungry, grumpy, sore, and tired. And I have lost exactly 4 pounds in three months (and my jeans tell me it ain't because I'm building muscle). It's getting harder and harder to maintain the recommended dietary controls when no progress is being made. My question is, do any of you have any opinions on Green Tea Dexatrim? Is it actually effective? I don't drink any caffeine now -- will I have an adverse reaction? Is it foolish to think that something like that will work/make a difference? Sorry if I sound naieve -- I've never really cared about my weight before (I was an athlete and very strong, so weight didn't mean as much) but I can't fit my clothes, I bulge out of airline seats, and haven't had a date in WAY too long to even think about, so now it's an issue. Thanks for any advice!
