PCOS and Vegitarians

Hi - I am newly diagnosed with PCOS. I am 27, about 70 lns overweight, all the typical good stuff that goes along with the syndrome. In a way this is great news, because there is a reason and explanation for a lifetime of frustration and confusion. My OB/GYN put me on 500mg/day of Glucophage, and today is my first day on the medication. I understand that diet and excercise are essential also, low carb and low sugar being most important. I have been a vegitarian for 6 months, and was wondering if it is possible to continue eating that way. Protien is a big problem for me, because I do not eat meat, and I do tend to eat more carbs that when I was a meat eater. I suppose I am more committed to handling my health than being a vegitarian, so if I have to go back to eating meat, I will, but I wondered if anyone had any advice. Also, does glucophage really aid in weight loss?
